Hi everybody,
I'm awfully sorry it's been taken again so long; you know how it is when RL happens. The list of the missing readings has been completed already a couple of weeks ago, but I managed only to polish it up for posting. Since lots of things happened in between, namely LJ posting their new TOS and demanding acknowledgement to be able to access your journal, the list might not even be up to date any more; but I'm afraid I don't have the time to go over it again right now, so let's work with what we have now and see if we can backup as many readings as possible.
Speaking of LJ and the new TOS: among many other things it seems that since then, journals and probably also communities have been deleted by LJ because they contained external links. I don't know enough to say if our community is in danger, or any of the journals/entries of our readers. But to be on the safe side, we mods decided to pre-empt something we wanted to discuss with you all anyway, created a mirror community on Dreamwidth, and made a full backup of all of our entries so they won't be lost. For the moment, our Dreamwidth Mirror is just that, and we still want to and will discuss with you how to proceed from here, and to incorporate DW to what degree. One motivation is that a few of our our readers aren't on LJ any longer, but perhaps will also join us again for readings when we mirror the comm on DW, or perhaps even move there. We'll talk about this a bit later, as this post is mainly about the backup of the missing readings. We're not planning to give up the LJ comm unless LJ forces us to or deletes it, but our main goal is keeping this project and the community alive and running, and we feel that we can't rely only on LJ any longer for that purpose.
I'm manually crossposting this also already on DW for the sake of those of us who are no longer here on LJ. It would be awesome if you could also point anybody to whom this applies here at this post on LJ or Dw. Thank you!

Here's the list of the missing readings. It's a google doc, I hope you can access it without problems. Let me know if you're having any issues!
List of Missing Readings
If you find yourself on the list and still have the reading(s) in question, or access to them, it would be lovely if we could save your reading somewhere accessible, so they won't be lost.
If you know somebody who's on the list and who hasn't reacted to these recent posts yet, but still might have kept their readings, it would be awesome if you'd let them know.
Unfortunately, I'll be travelling from July 15th to August 6th with unreliable internet access and no leisure to take care of fannish things, and as my co-mods are also rather busy these days, I'm afraid most things will have to be postponed until I'm back. But since things at LJ have become somewhat unpredictable, it seems to me the most important thing would be for the moment to make sure your readings are safe also outside of LJ.
If you're saved your readings on a hosting service, I think it's not urgent to backup them; in this case it would be lovely if you could just let me know and we could work something out starting in August when I'm back.
If you've posted your readings by LJ voice post, the easiest way to save them would be to save them to your hard-drive. To do this, you just need to right-click on the link that says "voice post" and choose "save target as". Please make sure to rename your file in a manner that it's possible to know what reading it is; best put book, chapter and if possible the number of your part in the file name. Once I'm back we can find out which would be the most convenient way to convey these files to me, so I can add them to the general backup of our readings. You can also already email me your readings, if you like (please state in your email subject also book, chapter, number of your part if possible, and your reader's name if not obvious from the email address); please sent them to . My storage there hopefully will be sufficient; however, if you run into any troubles sending something to this email, please contact vaysh or send your files to her as an alternative, .
In August, we're also planning to finally get the next chapter reading under way, and we'll have a poll for you to find out what everybody's current possibilities and preferences are for recording, listening, and participating.
Thank you all for your patience and your cooperation! We're happy to see that you're still with us, and we'd be more than happy to see old faces reappear as well as welcome new ones!
